The Reformer & Equipment

At My Pilates m.o. HQ there’s plenty of Pilates Equipment to tailor your Pilates class to suit you perfectly. There is a Pilates Reformer, complete with springs, ropes and pulleys, a Stability Chair and a whole host of Pilates balls, flex bands and hand weights to increase resistance and build strength. We’ll use both the large and small equipment as part of your 1:1 or 1:2 classes and the smaller equipment during Pilates Mat classes.

The Reformer consists of a bed-like frame with a moveable carriage, springs, ropes and pulleys. To use the Reformer, you lie down, kneel or stand on the carriage and carry out a series of Pilates exercises using different spring sets and ropes to achieve particular results. There are many variations and you can acquire a range of benefits, from building strength and stability, toning up, or improving balance, developing endurance or for rehabilitation.

One particularly beneficial element to Reformer Pilates is that the Reformer is adjustable to fit to you, making it easy to align the body perfectly. The carriage provides back support whilst moving the limbs, the ropes and springs can be used to assist the movement and they also provide controllable, supported resistance and weight throughout.

Historically, Joseph Pilates ensured clients worked out on the Reformer before moving onto Matwork because the Reformer really helps to show the importance of alignment and balance. A Reformer Pilates session is definitely enlightening, energising and well worth a try whether you’re a Pilates newbie or Pilates expert.

The Stability chair is another piece of Pilates equipment that can be used along with The Reformer and Matwork. Featuring a padded seat, foot pedal, springs and handles, you sit, stand or lie on the chair and move through a series of exercises.

The Stability Chair is especially useful for rehabilitation and Pre/Post Natal Pilates as you can remain seated to perform the exercises. This requires work to stabilise the core, but can be safer and more comfortable for those who find lying back uncomfortable.

1:1 or 2:1 Personal Pilates sessions can be booked by calling me directly. They will take place at My Pilates m.o. HQ in Ashton Lane, Bishops Waltham.

You will need to fill out a health questionnaire prior to taking to taking part in any class. FIND IT HERE >
